WHAT WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF RIGHT NOW ARE ACTUALLY THE MIDDLE OF THE BEGINNING IS OUR CONSOLIDATED PLAN FOR THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT. THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT IS A FUNDING SOURCE THAT WE ARE RECEIVING FROM THE GOVERNMENT, AND WE RECEIVE IT EVERY YEAR BECAUSE WE DO TURN IN AN ACTION PLAN EVERY YEAR. BUT EVERY FIVE YEARS, WE ARE REQUIRED TO TURN IN A CONSOLIDATED PLAN. THIS CONSOLIDATED PLAN GIVES OUR GIVES THE GOVERNMENT LIKE A BLUEPRINT OF WHERE OUR CITY WANTS TO ALLOCATE THESE FUNDS FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS. WE CAN DO A YEARLY TYPE OF PROJECT OR A FIVE YEAR LONG PROJECT. AND WE'RE WE ARE AVERAGING ABOUT $270,000 EACH YEAR RIGHT NOW. SO IF YOU CALCULATE THAT, YOU KNOW, IT'S 1.3 MILLION MAYBE FOR FIVE YEARS. SO IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT THAT WE GET ALL OF OUR STAKEHOLDERS, ALL OF OUR COMMUNITY TO BE INVOLVED IN HELPING OUR, OUR COUNCIL DECIDE ON WHERE WE WANT TO PUT THOSE FUNDS. SO WHAT YOU'LL SEE ON THE INSIDE OF THE PAMPHLET IS JUST A LITTLE BIT OF INFORMATION ABOUT THE CONSOLIDATED PLAN, HOW WE GATHER THE DATA. IT'S NOT JUST FROM SURVEYS, EVEN THOUGH THAT IS A VERY, VERY LARGE PART OF IT. WE ARE GOING TO BE COLLECTING DATA FROM STAKEHOLDER SURVEYS AND INFORMATION SESSIONS AS WELL. SO WHERE OUR LOCAL BUSINESSES AND OUR NONPROFITS GET INVOLVED, THEY LET US KNOW WHAT THEY SEE. EVEN IF THEY DON'T, THEY DON'T LIVE HERE, BUT THEY SERVE THE COMMUNITY. AND YOU'LL SEE THE PERCENTAGES OF WHERE EXACTLY WE CAN USE THESE FUNDS. SO WE DID INCLUDE A NICE LIST AT THE BOTTOM OF THAT UNDER THE PIE CHART OF WHAT YOU CAN, WHAT WE CAN USE THOSE FUNDS FOR. AND IT IS A DOCUMENT THAT HAD QUITE A LOT OF COMMUNITY INPUT AS WELL AS INPUT OF THE CITY COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODIES, BECAUSE WE WANTED TO GET IT RIGHT AND WE WANTED TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THE CITIZENS ENVISION FOR THIS CITY. SO WE'RE DONE WITH THE PLAN, AND WE'RE NOW IN THE IMPLEMENTATION PHASES BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT A PLAN WITHOUT A PLAN OF ACTION TAKES YOU NOWHERE. AND THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT IS ACTUALLY ROAD WIDENING. AS YOU KNOW, THE MAP, THAT YELLOW LINE THAT SHOWS THE LIMIT OF IMPROVEMENT THAT WE WILL BE DOING UNDER THIS PROJECT. AS YOU KNOW, DANIEL, THERE IS CURRENTLY TWO LANE. WE WILL WIDEN IT TO FOUR LANES AND THERE WILL BE MEDIAN ISLAND AS WELL AS SOME LANDSCAPE IMPROVEMENT, INCLUDING MONUMENT SIGNAGE FOR CITY. AND ALSO, YOU KNOW, THERE IS A TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT DANIEL ROAD AND BOLTON BOONE. THAT TRAFFIC SIGNAL WAS INSTALLED AS A TEMPORARY SOLUTION. IT DOES NOT REALLY HAVE A PERMANENT TRAFFIC SIGNAL APPARATUS OR LOOK AS PART OF THIS PROJECT, A PERMANENT TRAFFIC SIGNAL WOULD BE ALSO INSTALLED AT THAT LOCATION. BOLTON BOONE DRIVE AND DANIEL DAY ROAD, FOR YOUR INFORMATION, ARE NOT WESTMORELAND ROAD AND DANIEL ROAD INTERSECTION THAT WILL NOT BE SIGNALIZED UNDER THIS PROJECT BECAUSE A SIGNAL IS NOT STILL WARRANTED AT THAT LOCATION. BUT WE WILL. WE HAVE DESIGNED IN SUCH A WAY THAT WHEN THAT TIME COME, WE WOULD BE ABLE TO INSTALL A TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT THAT LOCATION. BUT OUR CURRENT PROJECTION SAYS IT MIGHT BE BASED ON THE CURRENT DEVELOPMENT PATTERN AND INTENSITY. IT MIGHT BE TRIGGERED IN AROUND 2035. SO THIS PROJECT ARE ESTIMATED COST IS $21 MILLION.
