Vice Chairperson Donald Dewberry called the meeting to order at 7:03 PM and noted for the record that five (5) Commissioners were present.

F. PUBLIC HEARING:
(4) A request to act upon cancelling the regular Planning & Zoning Commission meeting scheduled for Tuesday, December 27, 2011.
Motion to Approve to Approve a request to cancel the regular Planning & Zoning Commission meeting scheduled for Tuesday, December 27, 2011. Moved by Commissioner Dick North, seconded by Commissioner Reginald Jones.
Vote to Approve to Approve a request to cancel the regular Planning & Zoning Commission meeting scheduled for Tuesday, December 27, 2011. (Approved)
Ayes: North, Jones, Williams, Dewberry, McDonald
Nays: None
(5) Elect the Planning & Zoning Commission Chairperson and Vice Chairperson.
Vice Chairperson Dewberry stated that the Planning & Zoning Commission needed to elect both a Chairperson and a Vice Chairperson.
Vice Chairperson Dewberry asked for nominations for Chairperson of the DeSoto Planning & Zoning Commission.
Commissioner North nominated Vice Chairperson Dewberry as the Chairperson for the Planning & Zoning Commission.
Vice Chairperson Dewberry asked the Commission if there were any other nominations for the Planning & Zoning Commission Chairperson. Hearing no response, he asked the Commission for a vote on the Planning & Zoning Commission Chairperson.
The Commissioners voted unanimously to approve Vice Chairperson Dewberry as the Planning & Zoning Commission Chairperson, with five (5) members voting.
Ayes: North, Jones, Dewberry, McDonald, Williams
Nays: None
Chairperson Dewberry asked the Commission if there were any nominations for the Planning & Zoning Commisssion Vice Chairperson.
Commissioner Jones nominated Commissioner Chambers as the Vice Chairperson for the Planning & Zoning Commission.
Commissioner McDonald nominated Commissioner Williams as the Vice Chairperson for the Planning & Zoning Commission.
Chairperson Dewberry asked the Commission if there were any other nominations for the Vice Chairperson.
Hearing no response, he asked the Commission for a vote to elect Commissioner Chambers as the Vice Chairperson.
Commissioner Jones and Chairperson Dewberry voted to elect Commissioner Chambers as the Vice Chairperson. The nomination failed to receive additional votes from the Planning & Zoning Commission.
Chairperson Dewberry then asked the Commission for a vote to elect Commissioner Williams as the Vice Chairperson.
Commissioner McDonald and Commissioner Williams voted to elect Commissioner Williams as the Vice Chairperson. The nomination failed to receive additional votes from the Planning & Zoning Commission.
Commissioner North abstained from voting on both nominations.
Both nominations for the Planning & Zoning Commission Vice Chairperson failed and Chairperson Dewberry stated that the election of the Planning & Zoning Commission Vice Chairperson would be postponed until the next scheduled Planning & Zoning Commission meeting on Tuesday, January 10, 2012.

Being there was no other business; Chairperson Simerly adjourned the meeting at 7:07 PM.
