Mike McCabe with NRG EV Services was available to clarify differences between charging levels and connectivity.

Council discussion regarding notation on navigation systems, available grants, the number of electric cars and charging stations in the area, and potential zoning issues regarding stations.

6. Discuss the Utility Service Providers supplemental water and sewer lateral line warranty program for DeSoto water customers.

Lora Stallings, Assistant to the City Manager, provided background on the USP Warranty Program.

Brian Davis with USP provided additional information and clarification of program.

Council discussion regarding policy coverage, use of local plumbers and requirements for their inclusion in the program, and approval in surrounding areas.

It was the consensus of Council to consider this at an upcoming meeting.

7. Councilmember, Place 2, updates for Park Development Corporation Board, DeSoto Independent School District.

Due to time constraints, this issue will be discussed at a later Council meeting.

Councilmember Respess announced the Library will be accepting Food for Fines Monday, October 31 through Saturday, November 5.

He also announced a document shredding event sponsored by the Library on Saturday, October 22nd at Ernie Roberts Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event benefits the Storybook Project.

Councilmember Ledbetter reminded everyone of the DeSoto High School Homecoming Parade on Wednesday, October 5th.

Mayor Pro Tem Valentine announced the Corner Theatre production of "Two Trains Running" by August Wilson, from October 14-30. Showtimes Friday/Saturday at 7:30 p.m. $20, Saturday/Sunday matinee at 2:30 p.m. $15. Preview performance on October 13th at 7:30 for $10.

Councilmember Lockhart announced the Roosevelt Williams Bridge dedication hosted by Woodlands on the Creek Homeowners’ Association on October 8th at 7 p.m.

She also announced the Mayor’s 360 Town Hall Meeting to be held on Saturday, October 29th at 9 a.m. in the Council Chambers. Discussion will focus on the future vision of the City of DeSoto, including a presentation on the proposed event/convention center and mixed use project. This meeting will be broadcast on AT&T U-verse, Time Warner Channel 16, and the City’s website.

Mayor Pro Tem Valentine announced that the DeSoto Eagles have been ranked #3 in the state. Mayor Sherman encouraged everyone to go out and support the team at their Homecoming game.
