City Manager, Tarron Richardson, reviewed upcoming items on the Master Agenda.

Councilmember Zander arrived at 6:06 p.m.

2. Discussion of Regular Agenda items.

3. Discussion of Metal Façades in the Industrial Park.

Edlyn Vatthauer, Planning Manager, presented information as to what other cities in the area allowed. He also reviewed DeSoto’s current requirements. Councilmember Respess presented some examples of some metal buildings that exist near DeSoto.

Councilmember Ledbetter arrived at 6:36 p.m.

Council discussion regarding this topic being reviewed during the Planned Development study for the Industrial Park and the next steps.

1. Invocation by: Oscar Epps, Community Missionary Baptist Church. In Pastor Epps' absence, Pastor Gary Jones provided the invocation.

2. Pledge of Allegiance led by Councilmember Sandy Respess.

3. Ambassador: Marcus Green, Operations Coordinator.

Marcus Green has been employed with the City of DeSoto for 9 years as an Operation Coordinator in the Street Department.

Marcus currently lives in Duncanville. He is married to his wife Cindy, and has a daughter and a son. He believes in family first and enjoys spending time with his wife and kids. He strives to be a positive role model in their lives.

Marcus is also the person that is on our “AfterHourCallOut“ for the Street Department,24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Little Known Fact: In his spare time, Marcus smokes BBQ for caterers and special orders.

I. ITEMS OF COMMUNITY INTEREST

Councilmember Edgin announced the DeSoto Chamber of Commerce and Focus News Excellence Awards to be held Saturday, June 11th.

Councilmember Lockhart announced the July 4th fireworks - a collaboration between the City of DeSoto and the City of Lancaster - at Meadow Creek Park 1400 Uhl Road, Monday, July 4th from 6-10:30 p.m. For more information, call 972-230-9651.

Mayor Pro Tem Valentine announced the last weekend of the Corner Theatre production "Woman From the Town"; Performances are to be held Fri/Sat 7:30 p.m. and matinees on Sat/Sun 2:30 p.m.

Mayor Sherman announced the "Know your options" a foreclosure workshop to be held Friday, June 17th from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Councilmember Edgin invited the public to attend the Mantlebrook/Meadowbrook HOA meeting on Thursday, June 9th at 7 p.m. in the Civic Center. Discussion of how to prevent crime in their neighborhood; Police Chief Mike Brodnax and Officer Cindy Mendez will be there to discuss how citizens can help one another.

I. ITEMS OF COMMUNITY INTEREST

Councilmember Edgin announced the DeSoto Chamber of Commerce and Focus News Excellence Awards to be held Saturday, June 11th.

Councilmember Lockhart announced the July 4th fireworks - a collaboration between the City of DeSoto and the City of Lancaster - at Meadow Creek Park 1400 Uhl Road, Monday, July 4th from 6-10:30 p.m. For more information, call 972-230-9651.

Mayor Pro Tem Valentine announced the last weekend of the Corner Theatre production "Woman From the Town"; Performances are to be held Fri/Sat 7:30 p.m. and matinees on Sat/Sun 2:30 p.m.

Mayor Sherman announced the "Know your options" a foreclosure workshop to be held Friday, June 17th from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Councilmember Edgin invited the public to attend the Mantlebrook/Meadowbrook HOA meeting on Thursday, June 9th at 7 p.m. in the Civic Center. Discussion of how to prevent crime in their neighborhood; Police Chief Mike Brodnax and Officer Cindy Mendez will be there to discuss how citizens can help one another.
