Mayor Sherman called the meeting to order at 7:11 p.m.

Ms. Hallmark listed the items submitted for Council's consideration.  Councilmember Ledbetter introduced her appointee, Evelyn Trowell.

Motion to approve Consent Agenda as presented.   Moved by Councilmember Respess, seconded by Councilmember Lockhart.

Mayor Pro Tem Valentine announced she had attended the "Broadway Rhythms" show at the Corner Theatre that was supported through the grants of the Arts Commission and commented it was a very good production.

Councilmember Lockhart announced the April 2nd Town Hall Meeting regarding Sanitation beginning at 9 a.m. to receive public input regarding current services and possible changes to services when the contract expires in 2012.

Councilmember Edgin announced Project Create Community’s first gathering next Saturday, "Tuggin of the Greens" family festival March 19th to be held in the amphitheater area at Town Center.  Additional information can be found at www.projectcreatecommunity.org.  Mayor Sherman announced the City Council will be competing against the DeSoto ISD School Board Trustees.

Councilmember Zander thanked the CERT trainers and program participants and commended the program, in which he took part.  He also congratulated Councilmembers Ledbetter and Lockhart for being unopposed for their election.

Mayor Sherman offered prayers and thoughts for the people in Japan who are toiling through recovery efforts after the tsunami.

After a short break, Council will reconvene in their Work Session to continue their discussion of item #5.

Upon conclusion of that discussion, they will convene in Executive Session.
