Police Chief Mike Brodnax provided information regarding the accident on Pleasant Run Road involving two school children.

Tom Johnson, Managing Director of Development Services, presented the criterion that is used to establish school zones in the City of DeSoto.

Council discussion regarding flashing light enhancements for signs, pros and cons for additional school zones at intersections, and additional statistical accident information.

4. Discussion about Crime Statistics (Burglaries) and City's response to those concerns.

Chief Brodnax presented statistical information regarding burglaries and reporting of crimes.

Council discussion regarding number of burglaries versus number of arrests/convictions.

Mr. Richardson provided the background information on the subject and introduced Tracie Hlavinka, Community Initiatives Manager, who presented a PowerPoint presentation outlining the procedures City staff will follow for "group homes".

Carolyn Barrera, has been employed with the DeSoto Police Department since July of 2002.

Carolyn earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice and received her Advanced Peace Officer Certification. She is also a Field Training Officer.

Carolyn has two adult children and two grandchildren.

Little Known Fact: Despite the fact that Carolyn’s least favorite thing to do is “work out”, she has completed several marathons and two triathlons and her future goal is to complete an Iron Man competition!
