Tracie Hlavinka, Community Initiatives Manager, provided information on recycling in DeSoto and obtaining a baseline count of how many households are actually recycling.

Council discussion regarding the larger sized container, recycling pilot program, and information to be obtained through the program.

Little known fact: Rogers is a collector of antique cars. Rogers also has the distinction of having served as Ambassador the most times.

Council discussion regarding recreation revenue, water service connections, and City staff's effort to keep within and below budget and still maintain services. (Editor's Note: SR budget shortfall against budget -- city staff was able to make an even greater cut -- given the limited ability of a city to cut costs, it’s incredible. to be able to achieve that again is probably not probable. the decline was mainly due to shortcome in sales tax revenue. did have a shortfall in the recreation revenue -- was that related to the new rate structure.

EA - shortfall was mainly due to registration fees or rental fees -- blue cow came in and took away some of the available revenue.

JB - scheduled to address the assessment of rates in january

CS - seems water connections are down from projected -- are you seeing a trend in not having as many disconnects.

Mayor Waddle announced the passing of Jimmy Clardy, expressed his condolences, and announced the Memorial Service to be held Monday, October 26, 2009 at 1 p.m. in the Bluebonnet Rooms of the Civic Center.
