3. Ambassador: Parks and Leisure Services.
Roderick Turner has been employed with the City since December 2003. He is currently the Recreation Specialist/Interim Recreation & Civic Center Supervisor. He assists & implements a variety of youth, teen and adult programs. Rod is a 2002 graduate of DeSotoHigh School and a 2004 graduate of NavarroCollege in Corsicana, Texas. Rod is no stranger to Parks and Recreation having spent 5 years in various positions such as Recreation Attendant, Specialist and Interim Supervisor. Rod is passionate about recreation and its possibilities and how it brings a diverse community together. He is considered to be the media mogul of the Parks and Leisure Services Department due to his creative marketing and graphic design skills.
In his spare time, Rod enjoys playing basketball with friends and family, cooking and traveling.
Interesting Fact: As a college student, Rod was nominated to the Phi Theta Kappa Academics Honors Society.
