A. WORK SESSION
Mayor Hurtt called the Work Session to order at 6:13 p.m.
Roll Call: 8 members present, 1 members absent, 0 members excused.
1. Review of Master Agenda by City Manager.
City Manager Baugh discussed setting a new date for the Nance Farm Historical Tour. Tentative dates are April 21st or April 28th.
2. Discussion of Regular Agenda items.
3. Discussion on developing standards for construction and maintenance of entryways, subdivision/neighborhood perimeter fences, and residential privacy fences.
4. Discussion on developing an Ordinance requiring a Certificate of Occupancy prior to occupying or re-occupying any structure in DeSoto.
Jack Thompson, Chief Building Official, provided a PowerPoint presentation for Work Session Items A.3. and A.4. Reference made to City Council Work Plan Goals of 4.B. and 4.H.
Councilmember Sherman arrived for the meeting.

3. Ambassador: Firefighter Michael Homer
Michael Homer has been a Firefighter with the City of
DeSoto
for seven months, having graduated from DeSoto Fire Academy Class 30 last fall and completed his EMT certification in January.
Before coming to DeSoto, Michael was a mechanic.
He currently lives in Allen.
He says when not working, he enjoys building and driving race cars, camping, and mountain biking.
He has hopes of staying with DeSoto Fire Rescue for 25+ years.

2. Promotion of new DeSoto Fire Rescue Officers.
Fire Chief Fred Hart conducted the Promotion ceremony for the following. Captain Gloria Stidham promoted to Battalion Chief; Engineer Marcus Jennings promoted to Captain; Firefighter Mike Donahoo promoted to Engineer; and Firefighter Reid Bently promoted to Engineer.
1. Presentation of the 2006 Racial Profiling Report.
John Liederbach, University of North Texas presented the report.

Mayor Hurtt announced the 9th Annual DeSoto Boards and Commissions Appreciation Banquet will be held on Thursday, March 8th in the Civic Center. April 14th is the Annual Clean Up Day for the City of DeSoto. Additional information will be forthcoming.
Councilmember Clardy commented on the DeSoto Education Foundation 5th Annual Black and White Gala and the 25 students that were recognized. March 24th, the Concerned DeSoto Citizens will have a Bowling for Scholars event to raise money for DeSoto.
