I. Call to Order.
Roll Call: 6 members present, 1 members absent, 0 members excused.
Mayor Sherman called the meeting to order at 6:15pm. Councilmember North was not present at the calling of the meeting.
II. Discuss and consider appointments, attendance requirements, and vacancies for all City of DeSoto Boards and Commissions.
Ms. Morris discussed the current Boards and Commissions vacancies.
III. Conduct interviews with applicants for vacancies in Building and Standards Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustment, Library Advisory Board, Park Development Corporation, Planning and Zoning, and Tri-City Animal Shelter.
Interviews were conducted for the following:
Building and Standards
Library Advisory Board
Planning and Zoning Commission
Park Development Corporation
Tri-City Animal Shelter
Zoning Board of Adjustments
The City Council recessed at 7:10pm.
The City Council reconvened at 7:15pm.
Councilmember North arrived at 8:00pm. Mayor Sherman announced that due to Councilmember North's arrival time, he would only participate in voting for Tri-City Animal Shelter Advisory Board.
The following individuals were selected to serve on the Boards and Commissions:
Dee Brown - Building and Standards Commission
John Lewis - Building and Standards Commission
Kelly Herring - Building and Standards Commission
Arnold Davis, Jr. - Building and Standards Commission
Antonio Gipson - Zoning Board of Adjustment
Nigel Redmond - Zoning Board of Adjustment
Preston Gilstrap - Zonign Board of Adjustment
Chalisa Warren - Library Advisory Board
Andrea Brown - Library Advisory Board
April May - Planning and Zoning Commission
Thomas North - Planning and Zoning Commission
Sandra Carder - Tri-City Animal Shelter Advisory Board
Tonya Tarpeh - Park Development Corporation
Nicole Raphiel - Park Development Corporation
IV. Discuss and consider application process for individuals interested in serving on Boards or Commissions.
The City Council discussed the possibility of having two (2) days for interviews; one (1) for the current members and a second day, if necessary.
V. Adjourn.
Mayor Sherman adjourned the meeting at 10:38pm.
