Mayor Sherman called the meeting to order at 6:00pm. Councilmember North was not present at the calling of the meeting.
1. Review of Master Agenda
Dr. Richardson, City Manager, did not have any items of discussion for the Master Agenda; however, he reminded the Council to be mindful of their attendance to meetings that affect the budget calendar. He asked whether or not everyone would be present for the meeting scheduled for Thursday, April 3, 2014 to which no one replied of an absence.
2. Review of Regular Agenda items

3. Discussion and consideration regarding an additional project for the November 2014 Bond Election - Natatorium
Mayor Pro Tem Ledbetter led the discussion of having the opportunity of the citizens of DeSoto to be able to vote in the November 2014 Bond Election on a natatorium.
Council discussion regarding making the natatorium a collaborative effort between the DeSoto Independent School District and the City of DeSoto, the need of a natatorium for health and academic reasons, the possibility of a feasibility study, scope of work, fees, and timeframes.
Dr. Richardson, City Manager, informed the Council that staff are in the preliminary stages of preparing bond language for the November 2014 ballot and agreed to investigate the costs of the feasibility study and provide that information along with timeframes to the Council at a later date.
Mayor Sherman recapped the discussion indicating that there are some Councilmembers who would like to see an aquatic center placed on the November 2014 Bond Election ballot and all Councilmembers are interested in obtaining more information on the impact of having an aquatic center. Mayor Sherman encouraged the Council to remain "neutral" and "separate" and allow the citizens to vote on the issue. Mayor Sherman also agreed to speaking with the school district to determine if there is an interest in collaborating.
Mayor Sherman adjourned the meeting at 6:46pm.

4. Introduction of Ambassador: Jeanette Naranja, HR Department
Jenette Naranja has been employed with the City of Desoto as a Human Resources Assistant since October 2013. Jenette was born and raised in the Philippines where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. She immigrated to the United States in 1996 and joined the United States Army for four years as a Sergeant/E5, Finance Specialist. She was stationed in Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Rose Barracks, Vilseck, Germany. She continued her studies and earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. She is also a Texas Board Certified Public Accountant. She is married to Eddie, a 20 year Army Veteran and has one child, a son named Edward. Her family moved to Texas in 2004. Before coming to work for the City of Desoto, she was a Military Personnel Specialist in Fort Know, KY. She also worked as an Administrative Assistant and Fleet Program Coordinator for nine years for the City of Farmers Branch, TX. For leisure, she likes to travel to different states and countries to experience the culture and cuisine. She takes pleasure in watching movies, Broadway musicals and ballet performances. She frequents the City of Desoto Library daily to enjoy their book selection.
