Consider an Ordinance of the City Council of the City of DeSoto, Texas, ordering a Special Election to be held on November 3, 2020, for the purpose of submitting a proposition to the qualified voters of the City of DeSoto abolishing the current Type A sales and use tax at the rate of 0.375 percent and adopting in its place a local sales and use tax at the rate of 0.375 percent to be administered by the Type B corporation to be used for the promotion and development of new and expanded business enterprises and all other public purposes pursuant to Section 505.251 of the Texas Local Government Code.
